We're going to plan out an entire month of social media together. I've noticed that lots of authors drop the ball when it comes to their social media. They start off gung ho, and then they just forget about it. Totally understandable, since you should be writing, but you need to engage your readers.
I'm going to show you how to make this social media fast and easy. Everything is better with a plan. This is our social media planner, and it's a download under your resources. I like to write everything out. I schedule out my entire year of releases. So, mine is chicken scratch. I'm going to show you the download and take you through it.
It's cool because we have so many different areas.
You can have daily plans, yearly releases. You can track everything. It even has a place where you can do swaps. It's really, really awesome. I print this up. I schedule it out and then I go to business suite, which is also called creator studio. I already have it set up in here. You come over here to the little side that says planner, and this is the first week of June.
I started setting it up already because I have a release and I always set my releases up first. So, we have the first, that Monday is Memorial Day. If you go into all of our memes and graphics, you'll see that I have holidays in there for you already. We start off Memorial Day, and I know my new release is going to be on the 1st, so I have a countdown.
I have two days, one day. I'll show you what I did for my release. There we go.
And then I also have a sale. I'm sending this out in my newsletter first, on the first, for release. Then on the second, I have my sale set up. I also have a giveaway, which will be on Saturday. I usually run my social media Monday through Friday to keep it easy. Every once in a while, if I have a release, I'll schedule something on a Saturday or Sunday.
Or if I'm just playing on my phone and come across something cool, I'll organically share it. I don't schedule out Saturdays and Sundays. So, I have a paperback giveaway. I set it up in Giveaway Tools, which is free. If you're in Hive Mind I have this showing you step by step how to set this up under the virtual book tour course.
I'm going to go to month. You have Saturday, I reshared on the fourth sale because I want it multiple times. And the giveaway, I'm going to take this, I'm going to share it again. I'm going to duplicate the post. This is so easy.
Of course, it's taking a while now while I'm showing this to you. I'm going to duplicate everything. I will have this on my Institute and in my group, we're going to come over here.
I'm doing it on that Friday was just the very last day of the sale.
I meant Monday, not Friday. Save it and schedule the post.
Because of my giveaways, my sales, and my new release, that takes up over a week. Next, we're going to talk about a summer reading list, which if you watched the June social media on our YouTube channel, we talk about the summer reading list.
You can even take this and put your logo on it. I have this uploaded to our to our memes and graphics, but you can use this any time over the summer or actually any time at all because it's just a books list to read. Use it how you like.
I like to schedule early in the morning, usually about 8. I do schedule Reels and TikToks, which I don't have those, I usually do them by the week. And I schedule those either day by day or a few days ahead of time, which you can use reels on creator suite in here. It's super easy and you can share this a couple times a month too.
So, I have that there. If you want to share it later on in the month, you would just duplicate it. On the 7th, we are going to share about the newsletter. You might assume that people who are following you on social media already follow you on your newsletter. But, if you're running ads, and you should be, you invite every single person that likes your ad to your Facebook and then people will see it and then it's just a funnel from one thing to another to another.
And I have all my links up here, so I don't have to search for them while we are recording.
Okay, so have that on a Wednesday. I'll probably have it on a Friday the 30th. I'm going to duplicate this. I usually have this twice a month.
Okay, it's not letting me schedule out that far, because it will only let me do a month at a time. So, we'll schedule out what we can today. I also use this on my phone and I do a lot of duplicating for past content. It is super fast and super easy. I always come on here to schedule all of my releases first though.
And I have a ton of memes on my phone, so that's super easy. I downloaded some memes from our bank ahead of time, just so you can see. You know, all of your readers are readers, so they always connect with book memes. So if you aren't sure what else to post for your readers, book memes usually work.
We are going to do a ‘Are you following me on Amazon’ this day. What I did is I took a screenshot. I do have just a follow-on Amazon meme in the graphic in the meme area, but you can use that. I like to screenshot. It's a little more personal. And I already have a link to this, to my page, and you need to do this at least once a month.
It's great content, and it just makes your life easier, and they'll follow you. I suggest at least once a month. And you will usually pick up readers every time to follow you. And the more places they follow you, the more places they'll see you, they'll see your books. More books you'll sell.
Okay, go back to the month. As you can see, you can schedule your Facebook and your Instagram at the same time. I'll go back and do Instagram to see. Can't see by the month. Now, if you use Loomly, you can see by the month, and that's awesome, but I like to use this because it's free.
We're going to do a book bub, follow over here. You know, ask them to leave you some reviews over on BookBub. It's always helpful. You can also do a Goodreads follow. I'm not a huge fan, but I know a lot of people are. We're going to do a meme on Monday.
Normally what I would do is everything I've used, I put in a little used folder, so I know that we don't have that many here. I write urban fantasy so this is absolutely appropriate for my audience and it's hilarious so we shall use it. I'm gonna put a little laughy face because it is hilarious to my audience and myself.
I'm gonna make sure I'm sharing my backlist. I have book three coming in this series the following month, and I just also just like to sell books, so make sure you're sharing something every week. Promoting yourself, your books, and that way it doesn't just become a meme page.
Reader links, I track these links and schedule. I need some engagement. I think I already have it pulled up. Here we go. These are different questions I have for you under resources. They're in the meme and graphics, and I think I have them under engagement. This one works very well for me, your favorite supernatural creature. I write everything from vampires to gargoyles, to dragons. So, this will work quite well for my audience.
I usually share one of these a week, maybe a little more. They're good for engagement. Sometimes people will share what you're asking, and then everybody that likes your post turn around and invite them to your page. And make sure to go back in and talk to people, you know, respond if they ask questions.
I mean, if everybody's saying the same thing, you don't have to, but it's good engagement. Actually, interact with your readers.
My release is the most important thing at eight. So, I will schedule this for five. It's a good way to get interaction with your readers.
Super smart, Mandie, but Say Something nice Day, June 1st. So, I remembered, I need to post that June 1st.
If you listen to Bonnie and I when we were talking about social media, I suggested say something nice about yourself because we don't do that enough.
We're going to ask another question for this day. This is a good one. What's your policy on book lending? This gets people fired up. And give it a pretty little background.
My series that I just had a release for on the first is now a complete series. I'm going to push this. Remind everybody. People are busy. They may not have gotten to it yet. Maybe I didn't pick it up when I had that sale, which is fine. It's also in KU.
Don't ever say free in KU because you pay for KU. It's not free. Some people get really wound up about that.
I was going to put a little book there, I don't think I can, usually I do this on my phone, just schedule. I do this for myself and for clients sometimes. I'll tell them to put their links. Even though you're sharing a meme. This is great if it goes viral because it has your book link in it or you can put follow me on Amazon or whatever.
Memes are great to also share.
So anytime somebody shares that awesome meme, it has my link to dragon magic in it.
Normally I go much faster, and a lot of times I actually do this on my phone because I'll already have things like my newsletter in there uploaded. So I'll just go to the date I had it before and duplicate it. And it is super, super fast.
And I know my readers know I have romance in my books. My books are urban fantasy, but there is a little romance in there. So, this is appropriate. I get emails and messages about how much they love my characters.
I'm not sure it's going to let me schedule. You can only schedule out for four weeks, which is fine. You guys got the general idea that I'll just show you that well, something I would have shared, which is fun. And people like this one right here. I was having a great Friday until I realized it was only Wednesday.
Specific Monday memes or Friday memes. I have a bunch of them uploaded for you that you can use and it's fast and easy. If you have any questions that I can help you with you can ask me in the group and I'm happy to help you because as you can see, this was pretty simple. It really only takes maybe an hour if you're going slowly for the entire month.
